New...ish Stuff

It's been awhile, but I finally have something new to show. I've been working on a few things simultaneously and haven't paid much attention at all to this blog. anyways, this is a game character of a German solider of World War 2 era (I know, I know, I totally sold out to what is popular right now in the game world, but hey, I need a better job than what i have). It is a 5000 polygon model, with two 2048x2048 normal maps, two 2048x2048 color maps, a 2048x2048 transparency map, and finally two 512x512 specular maps.

Hey Joe, this is looking great! I really like a lot of the folds you sculpted into the clothing - that worked out real nice.

I think the flame thrower might need some clean up though. Did you sculpt the high res detail on it? It feels really soft and not quite hard surface (in pic 1). If you sculpted it, try modeling the high res detail and baking that into a normal map.

After that, maybe beat up his helmet some more through the specular or normal map. Make him look like hes been through hell and back (or maybe not quite that much, but dirt and dings can really help sell the model).

I really like it man - you're getting a lot out of 5000 poly's. Keep it up!
